Plumpton College offers an array of study options in the land and environment sector. Whether you are searching for a full-time course post GCSEs, interested in a degree level qualification or want to enter the world of work through an apprenticeship, there are numerous opportunities available. The college sits within 800 hectares of land, in the stunning South Downs National Park, bringing students the highest level of facilities and amazing spaces in which to learn.

The College boasts one of the largest college farms in the country with dairy, pig and sheep production. The animal management unit has over 200 species of animals, including birds, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. A multi-court sports hall with climbing wall and newly refurbished gym supports our adventure education students and those studying metal and blacksmithing have 29 state-of-the-art forges to work with. One Garden Brighton at Stanmer Park is the home of the College’s Horticulture Centre of Excellence and features brand new classrooms and planting spaces all within the restored Victorian walled gardens.

We continue to invest in our facilities with our newly opened learning and conference space: the AgriFood Centre. The centre provides the agriculture, food and wider land management industries with up-to-date learning; housing commercial training kitchens for food skills and bakery apprenticeships.

In 2024 Plumpton College will become the South East Institute of Technology which brings together teaching excellence, employer and sector insights and state-of-the-art training facilities to equip learners with the skills to excel in industry. Our new building will house cutting edge facilities for our veterinary nursing and animal management departments. 

Transport information

Plumpton College is nestled at the foot of the South Downs on the border of East and West Sussex. Students can use the extensive bus service, covering East Sussex, West Sussex and parts of Kent and Surrey. Plumpton College Transport.

Alternatively, become one of 200 students who live on site in our college accommodation, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Ample free parking is also available for students driving to college.

Applications for full time students, aged 16+, can be made online at www.plumpton.ac.uk unless you attend an East Sussex secondary school, where applications are made through your school via eProspectus.
